Kael's Kale

K's preschool plants a fall garden and each student is supposed to bring their own plant. The teacher suggested a few different fall plants, one of which was kale. When I talked to K about bringing a plant that shares his name, he thought that was a great idea. Today after soccer we stopped at a local nursery and found some Peacock White Kale (yet it is purple - go figure). He liked the name and the color so this was what he decided to grow in the fall garden.

K painted this flower on his 3rd or 4th day of preschool. Attached was a note from the teacher explaining more about it. "K mixed colors to make brown for the dirt. Then he asked for water & used the paint brush to add a little water between the dirt & stem. When asked to 'tell me about the water' he said 'I wanted it to be like a real flower.'" I thought this was pretty impressive for a preschooler! (But then don't we all think what our own kids do is impressive?!?!)

Love how their minds work. So cute! And it sounds like preschool is going good. He is a pretty special guy to be able to bring a plant to school with his name.

What a smart little guy and how cool to have your own plant at school.
