The End. . .

Today was the last day of the youth football season. (Thank Goodness!) My #73 is hiking the ball to #38 on an extra point attempt. We lost in overtime by one. The boys played hard. That is the important part. If only the coach's actions went along with what he told parents at the beginning of the year. My son playing the league minimum and other players sitting out fewer plays than that for the entire season caused me much frustration. We tried to respectfully offer our opinion earlier in the season and the blame was placed on the child. After that I was anxiously awaiting the end of the season so I didn't have to watch dreams being squelched each Saturday. My son wasn't the only player on the team to experience the same rejection. If only this guy would realize what he's doing to these kids. The most important thing to him is the win. Extremely sad at the fourth grade level! Tomorrow is the end of the season celebration. I'm going to have to try hard to keep my mouth shut.

Isn't he a cutie? He has put up with 8 weeks of attending soccer and football games (and practices.) What a great little brother!

The ball has just been "booted" by blue and is on it's way into the goal. This was one of 3 goals today scored by the hurdling first grader. He came on strong at the end of the season - scoring 3 or more goals per game in the last 4 weeks. Although this was great for him personally, it was even better that his coach played the kids as equally as possible. He subbed kids frequently and tried to put them each in a position to feel success. Unfortunately his older son is in the same position as my #73 but on a different team. I'm glad there are a few coaches out there who believe that enjoying the game, learning skills, and having fun are more important in the early grades than winning. (Can you feel my extreme loathing for the football coach?)

I can feel your frustration. I hope the next sport the boys participate in is more enjoyable. Especially for #73.

Ahh...isn't this a great place to vent. It sounds like a very frustrating season.

That pic of K is so adorable! I will have to show Aubs tomorrow.

So glad you have your blog to vent on and all supports to agree with you. Love the picture of your #3 son.

The websites we talked about are www.shabbyprincess.com and www.twopeasinabucket.com. On the two peas site you have to look for free digital kits.
