Over the Fourth, we spent 4 days with friends at Wallowa Lake. Our days were full of adventure and fun. These photos are from a few of our favorite activities. On the final day, we took a tram ride up to the top of Mt. Howard and hiked around. Although you can't see the snow covered peaks in the background of this picture, we did have to hike through some snow to enjoy the beautiful view.
One of the fun things for the kids on our hike was feeding the chipmunks. Here E is having a stare down with one while it decides if that bright red blob is safe. (Look closely on the left side of the picture for Alvin (or is it Simon or Theodore))
Go Karts were a daily staple. Z particularly enjoyed them because he could drive his own car with one of the "little" kids as a passenger. The dads were particularly aggressive and competitive - trying to out do each other! (Picture courtesy of E)
A highlight of K's time at Wallowa Lake was our hour-long horseback ride. The 13 of us all saddled up and rode the mountain trails. The four youngest kids (including K) were led by another horse ridden by one of the stable staff, while the rest of us (Z and E included) tried it on our own. It was a fun afternoon, but we moms had saddle sores at the end of the ride.
On Monday we rented a boat to take the kids fishing 3 at a time. Our buddy was in charge of baiting all the hooks (not the term he gave himself, but this is a G-rated blog. . .) which kept him VERY busy as you can see by the number of fish above. These 7 kiddos reeled in 26 keepers!
Thanks friends for a great vacation!
